In the snow
The lofty heights and icy ridges of the Cairngorms was a new environment for Miles to get used to. It also presented new challenges for Jon as the guide.

In a hole
Miles had not expected to fall through a hole in the snow in the Cairngorms but it was a useful learning experience in preparation for the crevasses he would encounter in the Alps.

Descending after a long day

Descent
After a long day in the Cairngorms, Miles and Jon descend towards Glenmore Lodge. When descending in snow it is often easier for Miles to be guided from behind and held on a short rope.
