Friday 23 March

John Cook, my great friend and our Project Manager flew in via Dubai this morning, bringing with him maps and other essential material for our ongoing flights from here on, including the mounting for the 6kg raft Richard needs to mount above the engine of the microlight.

Jon's case, containing the vital mounting, was not put on his connecting flight in Dubai, resulting in some pressure on us all to get it forwarded out in time for Richard to fit it before our long flight tomorrow to Gwadar, over the Arabian Gulf into Pakistan, wehre we plan to refuel and fly on from there.

Imran Awal, our very gracious host from the bank met Jon and I in the evening for our last meal together for now, but unfortunately Richard was still hard at work fittng the life raft and fuelling up, with security regulations restricting our involvement there wth him.

I MUST come back to beautiful Oman!!!

I guess you have reached India by now.

Looks like you will be travelling to Kolkata (Calcutta, the city of Joy), as well.

Would surely wish to meet you in person, if I can know when are you in Kolkata ?

Am trying to setup a small perfume based unit which would be run (manufacturying to selling) by visually impaired people.

I was diagnosed with RP 10 years ago. Am currently running a small software development company in Kolkata, India.

I noticed in your Agenda, you are in Calcutta (Kolkata) on 1st April (hope not making up for the Fools’ day :D ) and also on the 2nd of April, when you leave for Bangladesh from here.

Pls let me know if I could be of any help/assistance.

  3. I am reading your adventure with daily interest… I am enjoying your diary.

When you get to Australia please make contact if you need any help, we are based near Brisbane but can go almost anywhere if you need help.

I have been involved with an Australian event called “Flight for Sight” around various parts of Australia over the past 3 years raising just under $300,000 in the process, my ‘pilot’ was Gerard Goosens who is a former Australian of the year and executive officer of the Royal Blind Foundation in Queensland, he has been blind since birth and surprisingly is a very good pilot.

Our business in the importers for many Sport Aircraft and also the manufacturer of the XCOM Avionics products so again if there is anything you need please dont hesitate to give me a call or send an email.

Looking forward to the next days report !

Regards, tailwinds and blue skies, Michael Coates
